The Charleville Cup Festival

The much-anticipated annual Charleville Cup Festival runs in early November with four days of food, fashion, fun and racing culminating in the Charleville Cup Day on Melbourne Cup Day.

The festival was initially made possible through the Queensland Government’s Blueprint for the Bush – Our Place Our Future initiative. In June 2009, Minister for Primary Industries, Fisheries and Rural and Regional Queensland, Tim Mulherin approved funding for the Central Warrego Race Club Inc to host the Charleville Cup Festival, a community event which has become a major tourist event in Charleville.

The 'Our Place Our Future' initiative provides rural and remote communities with the resources they need to strengthen their capacity to build a more sustainable future" Mr Mulherin said. "In today's current economic climate, this investment helps to strengthen and enhance the relationships between rural and urban areas, as well as helping to build the networks and support they need to attract and retain skilled workers.”

The Cup Festival has flourished over the past decade and now offers something for everyone, from fine dining under the stars, to a golf fun day, sunset picnic markets, and historical tours.  The Cup Festival truly caters for every taste, culminating in the renowned Charleville Cup Races held each year on Melbourne Cup Day.

Each year we are seeking volunteers who wish to help with some of the events.  If you are interested in becoming a part of the Charleville Cup Festival Volunteer Committee please contact Angela Young on (07) 4654 1411.
